Life's Too Exciting Not to Be Awesome!

Weekend update: march 20th -27th
Mar 26th
Hectic week this week. Been pounded by jetlag big big time. But I’m getting over it now.
Work has been pretty killer but way less stressfull than the last three to four weeks. So that’s good!
Played a lot of video games. Fallout 3 is awesome.
Had a very nerve racking meeting this morning (Friday) but it’s over now. All of Thursday night was chock full of angst because of that damn presentation and our horrible software.
Oh yeah and matts jeep got broken into. And so did my bike. They took a bunch of petty shit, nothing really of value. I’m only pissed at losing my biking gloves and tool kit because it’s a cold drive in in the morning.
But nothing can dash my hopes for this weekend!!!
Friday: dan met me at the airport and then we went to other john’s play; othello. That was pretty awesome to see him performing in such a stand up production. Unfortunately we could not get great seats and some of us got bored so we left at intermission. So we went out on the town to maloneys. Awesome place. And what made it even awesomer is that half of this large bar was jon and liz’s friends! It truely was increadible how many people jon knows. And howmany flew from so far away to meet him.
Saturday: day of the wedding!
Woke up, went to brunch with matt and Melissa and dan at an awesome 50s style diner in Denver. After matt and Melissa got settled into thier hotel. Got ready and then off to the wedding!
Chapel was really nice, and the ceremonies were quite good. The after party (aka reception) was absolutely awesome
Food was amazing and dancing was a lot of fun! Party lasted till midnight when we all left for a club. Club was ok but everyone was quite tired, so I think we all retired early.
I really should get better at taking pictures.
Sunday, a day of rest and awesome.
Mar 14th
Ok so Sunday was a lazy day. Very nice to catch up on some rest and be able to reflect on my trip.
Got up early and had a delicious bkfast then went to the gym to try to work off said breakfast.
Decided to go out on the town today to get a late lunch / early dinner. And definitely some good beer.
Omg on the train I saw some super hightops. First time since the eighties!!!
What ever I do I can not get a German to smile back at me. And if they do.. They ain’t German. I’m not saying they’re not nice, quite the contrary, they just will not smile. Ugh.
Oh I found wiesse beer house again and got a seat today! Tried 3 times yesterday. I have to say the square is almost dead compared to yesterday.
This is the place recommended by gregor
omfg it is so delicious!! I was going to write about how I thought German beers were good but they did not compare to American micro brews (hey that’s an easy word to type) but this avenitus eisbock is god damned rediculously amazing!! It helps that it has 12% but it’s as good as a wine in it’s own right.
Oh man this beer is going to put me on my arse.
Oops forgot to punch my ticket. Oh well.
Walked all the way Down seldlinger to seldlinger tor and oft wasn’t too bad. Then I took the train back because it was efing cold.
Ugh I’m boring. Drinking beer and playing plants vs zombies (a game) while in one of the most famous German beer houses.
Epiphany and word to the wise. If it seems like what you want to do is outside of your comfort zone of against the cultural norm. Then just pretend you are a foreiner. Like if you want to talk to a girl but it seems intrusive. Just throw on an accent and have at it. I garentee there will be no hard feelings.
So, at the irishpub there were, you guesses it, lots of drunken people. There. It was a good time but not nearly as good as our first night out with the Irish. I don’t know if it was the ghetto or just being pure Irish but those kids were awesome. This bar, meh, ok but not Irish amazing.
- They can stack their cars! Talk about efficient!
- One of the best beers I've had
- I'm not sure but I don't think we wear this
- If you look closely you can see that the band was singing with a Bottle for a mic.
Saturday, an awesome day :)
Mar 13th

Oh man I’m soo good
I’m gonna try and find the German musem and hoffen brauhaus. And what ever other adventures I can run across. Hopefully I can meet some other really cool people like I did last time
Nice! An outdoor bier! I love it! even in the cold!
Omfg I fucking found hofbrauhaus! Accidentally! (I thought it was hoffen brauhaus but I was wrong)
Ok nuts to farve, fuck a liter of cola! Gimme a liter of beer!
Met some interesting people at Hofbrauhaus, a girl from Canada (who went to school in Florida) who was in Austria for professional Volley Ball, and a Guy who lives in Austria who took her out to Munich to watch a Football game (the Europe kind, not the American kind). Oh the guy went to Kansas state or something (in the USA) so he had no accent what so ever. both pretty cool people and shared our table with us.
Also met some girls from somewhere south in Italy. Some island that I had never heard of. They had flown up for a couple of weeks, something to do with school, their english was good but not great and my Italian is non existent.
Spent some more time wondering around the city before I found Paulaner Brauhaus.

Charlie
Steve
Amazing guys.
These guys had the great idea to start a ski school in the most poverty stricken area of Kashmir (well in the mountains close to there). The idea is to start a yearly trip that will allow the students to take on more and more responsibility year by year eventually giving them something they can run by them selves. Charlie and Steve are based out of Durango Colorado and got this idea while in college, and basically went from lust to fruition in 9 months, I don’t know how they did it but they did. The eventual goal, as they explained to me while being quite drunk, is to first try to break down some of the cast system between the kids by introducing some richer kids in a year or two. Then, secondly, way far in the future, they would like to introduce girls into the program, but even they admitted that was a long way off.
I fully support these guys and hope you take a look at their site: http://www.Skis4kashmir.org they have sunk a lot of money and time and soul into this project, they have done a great job. One interesting tidbit they told me was that almost all of the kids there were completely out of shape. Not necisarily in the obese way but they had a lot of accidents with twisted ankles and knees from inflexibility and general being not fit.
Now I know why all the brauhauses were so busy. The munich game is starting at 7:30. That’s where steve and Charlie went. That would be awesome to go to a Football match here in the city, I should have gotten tickets.
So there was a shouting match between some guys who liked Frieburg (the opposing team) and some guys who liked Munich (home team). Pretty funny and pretty damn loud. Awesome.
Paulaner, hof, augustiner brauhaus. All awesome, all great beer, all in my belly.
Disco p/1 I did not go but I heard it was good, maybe I’ll check out some clubs later this week.
I ended up my night at Killian’s Irish pub which was combined with an Australian Bar. On the TV they had a Rugby match, and for the life of me, after watching this thing for an hour, I could not understand one damn rule of the game. It is an odd sport. Kind of like cricket, but a lot manlier.
I Ended up my night kind’ve early back at the hotel room pretty exhausted. Thinking about going out later in the night but probably not.

Mar 12th
Agh fucking work wore me out and I accidently took a nap after words. So now it’s midnight and I rush over to the train hoping to squeeZe a little fun out of the night and I fucking get on the train in the wrong damn direction! Goddamnit!
And now it’s like 15 mins till the next train and I think I have to be back at the station before 2! Ugh so not happy right now.
I will basically get there, have 15 minutes to do what ever and then find a train back. I could not have screwed the pooch worse.
Ugh well tonight sucked. Just spent the entire time walking around town looking for shit to do but everything was all closed up
At least I didn’t miss the last train yet. Got home safe and sound but kinda a lame night
tomorrow will be better.
Wednesday Naght in Munchen
Mar 10th
Weds
Work was slow woke up at six after going to bed after midnight
Saw An today finally. What a nice guy.
I was reminded of the techno Viking! How awesome would it be to meet that guy!?
In Munich, as well as other European cities they have electric lights on bikes, which makes a whole lot of sense if you think about it, it requires absolutely no batteries.
The staff at our hotel is awesome.
Oh man I’m so excited I spoke to someone in German and they totally under stood me. And what’s more amazing is that I totally (ok nearly) understood her. And I quote “hoobin doobin grastaldt ofedsta verstandelt goober!” translation: ” go straight down this road and it’s just on your left, you can’t miss it!” omg I’m soo happy!
On the train off on another adventure
trying to find food and beer!
Every one wears head phones at the train stations.
Found a brauhaus! This place is huge! And it’s cold outside.
Georg, Mari, Pablo, Marco, and Some dude Picture to be uploaded later. These guys were really cool, they invited me over to their table for some drinks because they saw that I was lonely. I really like the European spirit. I’m going to have to try this in America when I get back. They even invited me to their cocktail party on saturday. I probably won’t go, its too formal.
Lee, horst and a a bunch of other Irish men. Fucking awesome went to the wombat bar. I love the irish because they know how to party. They loved the photos of the bachelor party.
I should not be aloud to party with the Irish again:
They were leaving at 8am for a flight that only cost them 10 fucking euros! I stayed out way too late drinking and missed the last train back home, had to take a cab… all in all an amazing night, just hope I can wake up tomorrow.

Sunday through Tuesday
Mar 7th
Not a whole lot to report here, got on a plane on Sunday.
Got a chance to see Dan and Jeff in LAX as they were heading back from NZ and I was going to Germany, what a crazy world. It was good to catch up with them before I headed off. Got on a plane to Germany, direct!, and probably slept most of the way there on Luftansa. Pretty awesome service, free drinks and lots of food. The flight room was spacious and nice.
Got off and had a taxi waiting there for me with a sign, that was pretty awesome because I had never had that before. Got to the hotel, had a nice work out, had some dinner and crashed hard.
The next morning a co worker I had never met before met me at 8:30 and we walked over to the office together, that was very nice of him.
I think there may be some confusion on the project but I guess I’ll know more about that later. I’m still so tired from the jet lag. Looks like there is a big disconnect on expectations here in Germany and what we delivered as Product Development. I’m working really late this night to get this shit done. Wound up working till midnight and woke up at 6 in the morning for a conference call and because of the time difference. but that was the last of my jet lag so I feel pretty good about my self for that one.
Looks like I’ll get to go out tonight (weds) to have some fun.

- Plane Ticket
- Passport Stamp
- BMW sign in the airport like 5 meters tall

Search for Colonel
Mar 3rd
So I was searching on the interwebs for Colonel, yes google is my defacto spell checker when I have no idea how to spell a word. Wow that sentence got off track. So yeah, colonel is a fucked up word, like really, who the fuck came up with that spelling. I think that any pronunciation that starts out with a different letter than the actual word that its spelling just means that word is retarded and should be shot. Where the fuck was I? Oh yeah, so I was looking up the word Colonel (where the fuck does the R sound come from?) because some one said “I’m and english Major” and I was trying to make the joke “I’m a British colonel” but it took me 3 minutes to find the right damn spelling of the word and by that time if I told the joke the other person would have thought I was a retard, for being so slow.
ANYWAY, the whole reason for this rambling is to share my google search result page with you, look who comes up in the recent news section for colonel:
That’s right, Admiral Fucking Ackbar, who’s the retard that thought he was a Colonel? pisses me off that’s what that does. But still props to Starwars
